Olaplex No. 7 Bonding Oil

Olaplex has become a reliable, yet costly, brand mainly due to their highly popular No. 3 Hair Perfector. I became aware of their bonding oil after seeing it in countless YouTube videos claiming its magical effects on strands, specifically, its power to repair damaged hair and reduce split ends.

The brand claims users will experience 125% more shine to their hair and reduced frizz for up to 72 hours. My ends always feel stronger after using this oil, but I can’t honestly say it controls my frizz for three whole days (I’m still waiting for that magic product…).

This oil is best for curlies who straighten their hair every few weeks—No. 7 protects tresses from heat up to 450°F. My favorite feature of this oil, besides how soft it leaves my hair, is its sweet, luxe scent.

Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! Strengthening Treatment Oil

Briogeo is the hair care brand I always turn to, and it rarely disappoints. So that’s why I knew I had to try their oil, which is part of the brand’s “Don’t Despair, Repair!” line.

The first thing I noticed about this treatment was its unique packaging. The bottle has a small rose and petals floating inside…talk about demure!

But most importantly, the oil is lightweight (the most from any on this list) and gives a nice, healthy sheen to my strands. A little goes a long way as it absorbs quickly.

Pattern Shine Spray

Although not technically an oil, this spray is formulated with castor oil and gives off a glowy, polished sheen to my hair. It goes beyond most other oils and is designed to protect against humidity.

The spray is oil-like in texture and the scent is strong, but not overpowering. The ingredient list includes Plumeria Flower Extract, a moisturizing ingredient that helps to repair damaged hair and protect it from harmful UV rays. You can read more about Pattern Beauty HERE.

Bumble and Bumble Bond Building Repair Oil Serum

This milky oil is an all-in-1 serum that strives to reduce breakage and frizz, improve hydration, strengthen strands, detangle curls, build bonds, and soften hair, all before you’ve had your morning coffee. Bumble and Bumble calls it their “lightweight treatment styler hybrid” that also works as a heat-protectant.

The oil contains a high concentration of Honey Bond-Building Complex, which helps build new bonds in the cortex, according to the brand. My first impression of the oil was how sticky it felt as I massaged it in my hands. After a few hours, the stickiness disappeared and my hair felt soft, although a bit stringy. It may be best to apply while the hair is wet.

Cécred Nourishing Hair Oil

Beyonce’s dive into the hair-care space brought this innovative hair oil to life. This product contains a blend of 13 oils, including baobab, moringa, sea buckthorn, castor, black seed, olive, sweet almond, and argan. The combination works to nourish and “reinforce your hair’s lipid barrier,” says the brand. It’s also meant to leave dry and dull hair feeling soft and flexible. The fragrance is not unlike the rest of the line; the scent is rich and warm.

The best part about this oil? It includes Cécred’s repair technology bioactive keratin ferment. The keratin “mimics keratin in human hair and delivers a deep protein infusion,” according to the brand. Of all of the oils on this list, this oil leaves my hair feeling the strongest.

Mielle Rosemary Mint Light Scalp & Hair Strengthening Oil

Mielle’s Rosemary Oil has garnered a new following after TikTok influencers raved about its magical ability to help regrow and thicken thinning hair. The original formulation has been available in stores for many years, but it has recently gained increased popularity, with thousands of positive reviews. Recently, they’ve introduced a “light” version of the oil for those with low porosity hair, but with the same efficacy as the original oil.

The ingredients include rosemary, mint, biotin, grapeseed oil, sweet almond oil, and jojoba oil. The oil can be spread throughout the scalp using the included dropper. I’ve discovered that for a more even coverage, you can use a spray bottle for easier application. Although its primary function is as a scalp oil, I’ve used it on my dry ends. You can also add a few drops to your favorite shampoo or conditioner for a more luxurious shower experience!
