The release of Beyoncé’s new hair care line was not on my 2024 bingo card! The multi-talented artist surprised many by launching her haircare line, which caters to all hair types. The move makes sense: the singer started performing at her mother Tina’s salon and even collaborates with her on this line. Cécred, a play on the word Sacred, currently offers a leave-in conditioner, hydrating shampoo, deep conditioner, oil, and other products claiming to transform dull, damaged hair into healthy, vibrant strands.

A number of their products are formulated with the patent-pending repair technology bioactive keratin ferment. According to the brand, the keratin “mimics keratin in human hair and delivers a deep protein infusion.” As someone who enjoys trying new products, especially those that utilize science to strengthen weak, damaged hair, I was eager to try Beyoncé’s products. Another plus: all Cécred products are formulated without silicones, SLS/SLES, phthalates, and parabens.

I purchased her travel-size trio, which includes the Hydrating Shampoo, Clarifying Shampoo & Scalp Scrub, and Deep Conditioner. The kit costs $42, comparatively less than their full-size counterparts which range from $30-$38 each. After using them for a few weeks, here are my thoughts…

Clarifying Shampoo & Scalp Scrub

I love love LOVE this clarifying scrub. The soft, grainy texture made it easy to distribute across my scalp. Its scent is minty with a dash of tea tree, lemon, and rosemary. The exfoliant includes ingredients like fermented purple willow bark, and tea tree oil to remove buildup from the scalp. The shampoo/scrub’s thin consistency, invigorating scent, and effective residue removal make me want to re-purchase it.

Hydrating Shampoo

This lathering shampoo left my hair clean, yet moisturized. The high-slip formula contains hydrating hyaluronic acid, moisturizing Phyto-Collagen Complex, and antioxidant-rich African oil blends. These moisturizing agents left my hair well-nourished prior to conditioning.

Like most products in her line, this shampoo has a luxurious scent reminiscent of a high-end, expensive perfume. In other words, it smelled like something Beyoncé would use!

This shampoo is safe for human hair wigs and weaves, according to the brand. Because I prefer my shampoos to leave my strands feeling squeaky clean (but not overly stripped) I will opt out of purchasing this hydrating product again in the future.

Moisturizing Deep Conditioner

Ever since Beyoncé released Cécred, I’ve heard many reviewers/influencers describe this product as ultra-rich and very buttery. I can honestly say they weren’t exaggerating. This deep conditioning treatment shouldn’t be used in a rush, it requires sufficient time to penetrate and nourish your hair (they suggest adding heat after applying).

12 moisturizing butters and oils, and the brand’s bioactive keratin ferment are used in its formulation. That’s a whole lot of butter! The conditioner is specifically for women with coily and curly hair.

Although celebrities get a bad rep for dishing out new brands in an already oversaturated market, I believe Beyoncé’s hair products are worth a try and won’t be thrown out to the left, to the left…
